My Favorite Things Color Challenge!

Oh boy do I need help with photographing cards...I spend all this time making a card for the challenge and it just sort of looks like a 'mug shot' of sorts.  Anyway, I worked on the new challenge that came out this morning:  My Favorite Things Color Challenge #64.  The requirements were to use blue, yellow, gray, and black.

I used the My Favorite Things Adorable Elephants stamp set, stenciled a plaid background (I'm not sure where that stencil came from, though), using Tumbled Glass Distress Ink and Zig Clean Color markers for the elephant and the balloon...oh, and a touch of Victorian Velvet for his cheeks...also die cut a few hearts while I was futzing with the blue ink. I finished up by using the My Favorite Things Stitched Rectangles and Wonky Stitched Rectangle dies and mounted on My Favorite Things Fog Gray cardstock.

Muse Challenge #203

It was really fun to see Muse Challenge #203 and I thought I'd try playing along. My take on Tracey's card included the rainbow idea including the idea of caring friends.  I was organizing my stamps and found myself in the Mama Elephant bin, so as fate would have it I used the Mama Elephant little people from the 'Good Times Roll' set, one of the border stamps from their 'Basic Borders' set, and the sentiment is from 'Ella and Friends'.  I tried to blend the Distress inks in rainbow order and also stamped the little people in some sort of blending order.  I die cut the panel with My Favorite Things 'Wonky Stitched Rectangles' and mounted it on some black cardstock.  Voila!  Tracey's card is right below.

Here is Tracey McNeely's inspiration:

February 2017 Challenge - Cue Love

I made this one as entry into the Paper Smooches February 2017 Challenge - Love.

I did a quick little sketch of a mint plant using Derwent Inktense Watercolor Pencils and splattered some of the greens to add interest.  I stamped the sentiment from Paper Smooches Scripty Sayings and also stamped one of the cute little hearts on the planter in Memento Ladybug Red.  For the frame I used Stitched Rectangles Frame in gray with some text stamp (I apologize, but that one's so old I can't read the manufacturer anymore) and mounted it on gray cardstock to complete it.  Thanks for stopping by.

CAS Watercolor Challenge

I am entering this card I made for my sweet hubby into the CAS Watercolor Challenge.  I saw the very talented Heather Telford use this technique and tried it out, but it did not turn out as I expected.

I used the old favorite, Stampin' Up Swallowtail and stamped it in water -sprayed the heck out of it but missed half of the butterfly.  I dropped some blue and violet Brusho and moved it about with a brush only then noticing that I only had half a butterfly, but I thought it was so pretty I decided to use it.  I confirmed the body with some copic multiliner black pen and used the Lawn Fawn Milo alphabet, finishing up with the slanted rectangle die from My Favorite Things.

I'd like to get better at photographing my cards, but here it is:

Altenew February 2017 Inspiration Challenge

Hello Out There,

This is my first challenge, so please bare with me if this looks kind of clunky...

I have a lot to learn about photography for cards.  This photo is from my Instagram account and some freebie app layouts.

Anyhoo, I used Altenew's Framed Floral Set.  I stamped the ferns with Versafine Onyx black ink, then painted them with Peeled Paint and Faded Jeans Distress Inks.  I dry embossed the ferns with the coordinating dies so I'd have something raised up to grab the ink for the ferns.  Next I painted the large and small flowers with Victorian Velvet Distress by going back and layering lots of times to get it to look deeper pink as the ink kept drying so light.  I die cut the flowers and cut apart the flowers so I could use the smaller one above and below for balance.  I also cut the background with the My Favorite Things Vertical Stitched Panels and pieced it onto some apple green Bazill Cardstock.  The sentiment is from the Framed Florals as well - cut a little tag from Pretty Pink Posh.  Voila!

Here's the link for the challenge:

Oh boy, first blog here...fingers crossed here to get this going.  I simply wanted to do this blog so that I could enter into some creative challenges.  Ugh...a year later and I've got a first paragraph going.
