My Favorite Things Color Challenge 66

Happy Friday Everybody (-:

I'm playing along with the My Favorite Things Color Challenge 66 today.  The colors they're asking us to use are orange, cranberry, teal, and tangerine.  This is a retirement card (I know, kind funky) and to create it I began by using the dotted swiss embossing folder on the card panel and then die cutting the window through the panel.  I stamped and die cut the elephants in each of the four colors...a note on the ink though.  I usually use the Hero Arts Shadow Ink for solid images, but found that the little Memento ink drops sold at Hobby Lobby worked just as well, if not better.  Okay, then I used a sentiment from one of the Dylusions stamp sets and cut it out by hand so I could split it up.  On the inside I did an extra elephant and used a sentiment from WPlus9 to finish it off.

Materials Used:
  • My Favorite Things:  Beautiful Baby Stamp Set, Wonky Peek-A-Boo Window
  • Sentiments:  WPlus9 Fish More and Dylusions Label Sayings
  • Ink:  Hero Arts Shadow Ink and Memento Ink Drops
  • Dotted Swiss Embossing Folder - I don't remember the manufacturer, it's pretty old

Happy Birthday Norm!

Good friend of ours, Norm, just had a birthday and this was the card for him!

Outside
Inside

To create this top-fold card I began by die-cutting the speech bubble window and then matching up where I wanted to stamp the cats.  I stamped them onto some watercolor paper in Versamark Black Onyx ink and colored the cats with zig clean color markers, then die cut a fancy-schmancy border on each side, adhered it to some lavender cardstock and then adhered that to the inside of a card.

Next I started on the outside of the card.  I matched up some watercolor paper to the window in the card front and die cut it.  Once that was done, I wet the watercolor paper and  swiped some pink, blue, and lavender across the panel and splattered with with some blue.  Lastly, I stamped the Happy Birthday and white embossed it.  This one was a little more work than I anticipated, but I had fun doing it!

Materials Used:
  • Art Impressions Cat Stackers
  • Mama Elephant Birthday Wishes
  • Mission Gold Watercolor Bright Opera, Bright Clear Violet, and Cobalt Blue
  • My Favorite Things Birthday Speech Bubbles
  • Pretty Pink Posh Stitched Borders
  • Zig Clean Color Markers
  • Canson 140 lb. Watercolor Paper
  • Versamark Black Onyx Ink

Cupcakes Inspiration 400 Challenge

http://cupcakeinspirations.blogspot.com/Happy Cupcake Inspiration Challenge! This is the first time I'm participating in this challenge and needed a birthday card so I wanted to have a hand at it.  We are asked to combine a past challenge and a birthday card.  I chose the past challenge #206.  The colors are lavender, turquoise, and pink.

To create this card I stamped the center cupcake (Stamplorations Sketched Cupcake) in black and then a number of other cupcakes in gray Stazon ink. Next I blended some Shaded Lilac and Peacock Feathers Distress ink over the gray cupcakes, masking the center cupcake,  I removed the mask and painted the center cupcake pink; stamped the sentiment and then created a banner and blended a bit of Shaded Lilac and stamped the birthday greeting.  I drew a line from the cupcake to make it appear to be stuck in the frosting.  To finish it off I used a zig glue stick to make the swirls and sprinkled some clear glitter on it; lastly I used some enamel drops in pink to 'splatter' some pink frosting (-:

Material Used:
  • Stamplorations Sketched Cupcake
  • So Suzy Sentiment
  • Distress Ink:  Shaded Lilac, Peacock Feathers
  • Ranger Enamel Drops

Muse Challenge #206

Well, this card is not a great photography example, but I was kind of in a hurry when I snapped it.  This is for the Muse Challenge #206.

This actually a Happy Mother's Day card and I was inspired by Jenni Murray's beautiful card to use some wonderful spring pinks and I added blues to perk it up a bit as well.  I prepared the panel by embossing it in white with a vertical background stamp (I couldn't find the manufacturer) and then used two colors of Daniel Smith watercolor from one of those sample cards to splash on wet watercolor paper.  Once dry, I die cut it with stitched panels and die cut the words - first was individual letters and the second a whole word.  I used a small label to stamp 'Mother's Day' and then it looked kind of blah, so I die cut some little viney things.  Alrighty, there you have it!

Materials Used:
  • Daniel Smith Watercolor Dot Card - SB Turquoise and Bordeaux
  • Ranger Enamel Accents - Wild Orchid
  • My Favorite Things - Horizontal Stitched Strips and Greeting Strip
  • Simon Says Stamp - Leaf Column Outline
  • Canson Watercolor 140 lb. Cold Press
  • Hero Arts Shadow Ink - Fuchia

My Heart On My Wing

Easter is on its way and I'm getting some cards ready to send, so I thought I would play along with some challenges, too.  Details for how I made this card and supplies listed are below.

Muse Challenge #207

My interpretation from Tracy McNeely's beautiful card was to make an Easter card and use some soft pastels that I haven't done in a long while.

My Favorite Things Sketch Challenge #324

This one was a little more complicated than I wanted it to be, but here goes:  I used the MFT Brick Coverplate as a stencil and blended some distress inks to make the background.  I cut the panel with MFT Stitched Rectangles and then again with the MFT Stitched Basic Edges to get the pointed edge.  The current sketch dictated the elements.  I stamped the bird and Easter rabbit ears and then die cut them, as well as the sentiment.  I cut the little circle with a basic circle to allow the bunny ears to pop out.  The die cut hearts were a freebie that Paper Smooches included in one of my orders...I didn't even know they were going to do that and I use these little hearts all the time!   I used Wink Of Stella on the hearts, but to tell the truth, I don't really see the attraction for it, it never really shows up very much.  Oh, and I ran the left over edge from the panel through with the stitched rectangles one more time to make it a little square so the bird looked as though her were standing on something.  There you have it!

Materials Used:
  • My Favorite Things:   Brick Wall Cover-Up, Stitched Rectangles, Stitched Basic Edges, Sentiment Strips
  • Tim Holtz:  Crazy Birds stamps and dies, Crazy Accessories stamps and dies
  • Paper Smooches:  Tiny Accents
  • Glossy Accents
Thanks for coming by!

My Favorite Things Color Challenge #65

Happy Wednesday from a cold, cold Madison, Wisconsin!  I am playing along with the My Favorite Things Color Challenge 65 today.  The colors for this challenge are Razzle Berry Pink, Cornflower Blue, Blue Yonder, and Lavender Fields.

For some reason, this was harder than I thought it would be, but I turned the MFT Big Balloon Strings background stamp horizontally and thought it looked like waves, so I went with it, coloring the 'waves' with the alternating blues.  Next I colored the Hero Arts Color Layering Goldfish with the pink and details in purple.  I used the sentiment from the goldfish set and gold embossed it.  I stamped it on the smallest die from the MFT Horizontal Stitched Rectangles.  Lastly, I cut the card with the MFT Blueprints #26; cutting a slit in the 'waves' to poke the pink fish out of.  I also gave a little pop with some enamel drops.  Hope I don't hear any grief about a pink goldfish, but there you have it!  Thank you for stopping by (-:

Materials Used:
  • My Favorite Things:  Big Balloon Strings Background Stamp, Blueprint #26, Horizontal Stitched Strips
  • Canson 140 lb. watercolor paper
  • Zing gold detailed embossing powder
  • Hero Arts Color Layering Goldfish
  • Zig Clean Color Markers:  Blue #030, Violet #080, Pink #025, Cobalt Blue #031
  • Ranger Enamel Accents:  Grape Soda

Get Well Aunt Jo!

I just finished this card and thought I'd go ahead and post it- no particular reason, but here it is-  the photography isn't fancy and I just used a piece of scrapbooking paper to lay the card on to take the picture as Debby Hughes from Lime Doodle suggested as one of the ways she photographed.

First I stamped Penny Black's Get Well, umbrella stamp, masked it with some masking paper, and used Faded Jeans Distress Ink applied with an ink blender, dropping little water droplets from my hand and waited for it to dry.  Once everything was dry I colored the zentangle-like umbrella with Zig Clean Color Markers and stamped the sentiment.  I die cut the panel with My Favorite Things Wonky Stitched Rectangles and mounted it on some brown kraft paper.

Any suggestions or feedback is greatly appreciated (-:

Materials Used:
  • Penny Black Get Well
  • Distress Ink Faded Jeans
  • Zig Clean Color Markers
  • Versamagic Black Onyx Ink

CASology Week #239

Hellllllooo!  Doing the CASology Week #239 Challenge.  The cue word for this week is Landmark and for me home it struck a chord in that it took me such a long time to find my 'happy place' (it will be 2 years on May 2nd that I'll be married) at the ripe old age of 66!  Now that I know what happy feels like, the only way I can describe it is Joy!!

I used Bristol 100 lb. paper to stamp the house and then stamped 'home' and the rest of the sentiment, crossing out 'the' and using the Lawn Fawn alphabets to stamp 'my'.  I colored with watercolor pencils and Voila!

Materials Use:

  • Simon Says Stamp - Christmas Town
  • Derwent Watercolor Pencils
  • Lawnfawn - Harold's Alphabets
  • My Favorite Things - Wonky Stitched Rectangles
  • Close To My Heart -sentiment- Around the Block

Muse Challenge #206

Hi Everybody!  I'm posting this one for the Muse Challenge #206 and the inspiration card is from Anita Bowen.  My interpretation on Anita's card was how nicely the background stamped and the flowers were colored and found a stamp in my stash that had the same idea.  I've not used this one for years and I'm glad I found it again!

I stamped this twice onto some white bristol paper and colored it with some zig clean color markers.  I cut out a few of the flowers from the second panel and used it to pop them up from the little frame.  Lastly I stamped the sentiment on a tag and gold embossed it- used black cardstock to make a 4-1/2 x 4-1/2" card.

Materials used:

  • Hero Arts Poppy Background stamp
  • My Favorite Things Pierced Square Frames and the second smallest Triad Tags Stacked
  • Rubbernecker 'Friends are flowers in the garden of life' - Sketch Poppy Set
  • Zing Gold Embossing Powder
