Watercolor Valentine

These were so much fun to create that I did a bunch of them - really love these colors.  This is a 4-1/2 x 4-1/2" square card and just fit nicely. I used a heart die as a stencil and drew with pencil to trace the heart.  Next I just wet the inside of the heart with a light layer of water and then pink, leaving some white areas and dried it, building up the pinks in color and layers, drying in between.  Once I was happy with it I stamped the sentiment using the MISTI because this is rough watercolor paper and doesn't usually stamp nicely.  I die cut a rounded rectangle and painted some pinks I used to make a base layer and mounted it on some black cardstock.    I am entering this one into the CASology Week #285 and the HLS Watercolor Challenge. Thank you for reading this and the supplies I used are listed below.
Materials Used:
  • Arches Rough Cold Pressed Watercolor Paper
  • Daniel Smith Watercolors
  • MFT Inside Out Rounded Stitched Rectangles
  • Papertrey Ink Sentiment, Botanical Silhouettes Stamp Set

Year Of The Dog...Happy Chinese New Year!

Hellllooo Out There.  I made this card for a friend celebrating Chinese New Year, the Year of the Dog (-:  I checked out the colors on google and it seemed most were gold and red.  The hardest part of this one was matching up the opening here with the heart on the inside, but as long as you do it in the beginning before you start creating the rest of it, it's goes well.  I used some gold glitter paper I picked up at Hobby Lobby as the base layer and die cut the word and year out of the same paper, while using a die to create the additional circles.  Thank you for reading, and the materials used are listed at the bottom.  I am entering this card into the Simon Says Wednesday Challenge.

Materials Used:
  • Circle Die, Simon Says Stamp, Confetti Circles
  • Word Die, MFT, Brushstroke Greetings
  • Heart Die,   Whitelotus, Nested Stitched Hearts
  • Number Dies, MFT, LLD Little Letters
  • Inside Sentiment, MFT, Good Fortune
  • Woof Stamp is a peg stamp and I have not idea where I got it from )-:
  • Dog Stamp, Unity, I Ruff You
  • Zig Clean Color Watercolor Brush Markers

Loving The AI Cat Stackers (-:

Helllllooo out there today.  I finished making a little Valentine's Day card for my grand baby and found a challenge that fit:  Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge - yay! I know the idea of these stackers would be to show only perhaps the top kitty and then pulling a piece of plain cardstock down to show the rest, but I like the idea of showing every one of them all at once.  I found some heart patterned paper in my stash and layered it on top of some matching plain blue and cut out one of the hearts to stamp the sentiment.  I cut the stacker slider die from the plain blue and mounted all to a plain white card base.  I stamped the cats on some watercolor paper and colored them with my zigs.  I stamped 'Happy Valentine's Day' on the inside and die cut a heart banner to dress it up on the inside.  Thanks very much for reading this, and the materials used are listed way at the bottom.

Materials Used:
  • Art Impression, Cat Stackers
  • Sentiment Outside, Duck Stackers
  • Sentiment Inside, Tim Holtz Crazy Talk
  • Inside Hearts, Simon Says Stamp Heart Banner
  • Pull Stamp, MFT Good Fortune
  • Zig Clean Color Brush Watercolor Markers
  • Inks, Versafine Black Onyx and Altenew Ruby Red

Simple Watercolor Card

I really enjoyed the process of doing this card and I think I'll be doing lots more. I just painted a very loose little pot of geraniums on some Canson 140 lb. cold pressed watercolor paper.  Once it was dry, I die cut the panel with a My Favorite Things Zig Zag rectangle.  I found some green paper and cut a piece a bit larger than the watercolor panel and mounted it on a kraft card stock card base.  Oops almost forgot- I stamped the sentiment from Gina K's Scripty Sayings. I entered this card into the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge.   Thank you so much for reading (-:

Happppy Valentine's Day!

This is a very fun-to-make Valentine's Day card for one of my sweet little grandbabies.  I have lots of pictures, so please scroll through to see them.  I am entering this one into the Simon Says Wednesday Challenge to use patterned paper.  I sometimes make things more involved than they have to be and this was one of those times, but I love making cards, so what the heck!  I found some old paper with a small pattern in my stash and found some plain to match and I was off to the races.  This is a top-folding A2 sized card and I adhered the plain and patterns papers in two layers and then cut the little die (I lovvve the Art Impressions interactive pieces they sell) from the plain paper and adhered that with some two-sided tape.  Next I set about coloring the pile of ducks directly to the watercolored paper with some zig clean color markers. I cut a piece to fit the slider, but I wanted all the images to show instead and allow Charlotte to play with the little piece.  I stamped her name and one of the images on the reverse side and then stamped "Happy Valentine's Day" on the inside.  Oops, almost forgot the mention that I die cut some layers of stitched hearts to use for the sentiment on front!  Thank you for reading and all of the materials used are way at the bottom (-:

Materials Used:
  • Art Impressions Stamp, Duck Stackers
  • Art Impressions Slider Die
  • Simon Says Stamp, Heart Banner, for the inside hearts
  • Stampers Anonymous, Crazy Talk
  • Zig Clean Color Watercolor Markers
  • Altenew Dusty Pink Ink (for inside sentiment)
  • My Favorite Things, Good Fortune Stamp Set for the little word "Pull"

Birthday Time

Okay, this is my third and final submission for the Altenew Inspiration Challenge for January 2018.  I've had this Altenew set for a long time, but I still use it quite often.  I centered this stamp in the MISTI and then flipped the panel and stamped it again with Versamark and then gold embossed it.  I used the smaller 'dots' and stamped them in various spots - gold embossing them as well.  Then I die cut the panel and mounted it on some pattern paper.  To create the sentiment strip I die cut some vellum using this really cool die strip from Pretty Pink Posh and stamped the sentiment embossing it in gold.  Thank you for reading, and the materials used are listed below.

Materials Used:
  • Altenew Floral Frames
  • Sentiment:  My Favorite Things 'Make A Wish'
  • My Favorite Things 'Slanted Strips'
  • Distress Inks:  Squeezed Lemonade, Spiced Marigold, Festive Berries

Birthday Wishes

Here we are - 2 of 3 Altenew Challenge cards; my second entry into the Altenew Inspiration Challenge.  This one is more of a clean and simple card and I was trying a technique I sort of improvised.  I swiped two small distress ink cubes down from the top of the panel.  Once it was dry I stamped the butterfly (which I lovvve) and gold embossed it.  I also gold embossed the sentiment.  I colored the pink color into the different areas of the butterfly.  I die cut a few hearts from the same color and adhered them to the card, and then used some pink and gold Nuvo jewel drops.  Lastly I used the MFT stitched rectangles to cut the panel and adhered it to an A2 card base.  Thank you for reading this, and the materials used are listed below.

Materials Used:
  • Altenew Bejeweled Stamp Set
  • Sentiment Altenew 'Floral Frames'
  • Distress Ink cubes:  Wild Honey, Spiced Marigold, and Festive Berries
  • Simon Says Stamp 'Mini Heart' dies
  • MFT Stitched Rectangles

Birthday Cards Everywhere!

Happy Winter Morning!  Wisconsin is a bit brisk, but 30 degrees is welcome.  I'm posting one of three posts for the Altenew Inspiration Challenge today.  I wasn't quite sure exactly how I wanted to approach this so I kept playing with the color combinations required this month and decided to submit all three.  The first A2 card I created utilized the Altenew Botanical Garden stamp set and I really like the lines on this set.  I stumbled along the way but embossed and watercolored the images, stamped the sentiment, splattered and scattered some gold Nuvo jewel drops.  Lastly, I tried using a different die cut and it moved because I forgot to tape it down, so I used to die cut that actually cut out the messed up area...I then die cut the remaining panel with a stitched rectangle to set it off.  I used some patterned paper that fit with the color schemed and tied the lower panel with some gold thread I had in my stash.  I adhered everything together and fit it to the card base.  Thank you for reading this far (-:   The materials used are listed below.

Materials Used:
  • Altenew Botanical Garden Stamp Set
  • Sentiment:  Stampendous 'Birthday Wish'
  • Simon Says Stamp 'Wavy Scallop Stitches'
  • My Favorite Things 'Stitched Rectangles'
  • Zig Clean Color Markers
  • Nuvo Gold Jewel Drops
  • Sizzix Patterned Paper
  • Gold Thread

Happpppppy New Year!

Catching this MFT Sketch Challenge #365 right under the wire, and also submitting this for for the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge...because this stamp is brand new and the challenge word was 'new'.  I really love this card and it is my absolute favorite this year (so far).  I began this A2 card by using an MFT cover-up die and colored each little paw with Copics and die cut them. I am not very good with Copics, but I certainly enjoyed the process and figuring out how to blend - but don't look too close.  I think I usually make things way too hard, so these sketch challenges are really good for me to follow.  I finished by stamping the sentiment in versamark and heat embossing in white on black cardstock.  Thank you for reading this, and the materials used are listed below (-:

Materials Used:
  • My Favorite Things Square Grid Cover-up
  • Simon Says Stamp - Paws-itivity
  • Neenah white 110 lb. cardstock
  • Hobby Lobby Heavy weight black cardstock
  • Copics - Set A
