All About Layering

This is my first assignment for Altenew Educator Certification Program.  I'm trying to closely follow the guidelines for assignments, so these uploads will be focused on the lesson requirements. This lesson is called, 'All About Layering', and I used the Altenew Painted Flowers stamp set and I thought it was a great one because it is fairly forgiving if you are a bit offset as it gives it more of a playful pen and ink look.  First I worked on the design and how I would like the flowers to flow and then I chose the ink colors- Altenew Mango Smoothie, Sunkissed, Frayed Leaf, and Forest Glades.  I stamped the black using Versafine Black Onyx first and it was really fun to see this card begin to come together.  Next I stamped the lighter ink (Sunkissed) using the layering guide for each flower. I downloaded this from Altenew's website. I followed the lighter yellow ink with Mango Smoothie and finished the leaves after the flowers, using Frayed Leaf first and Forest Glades last.  I should mention that you achieve a nice crisp look if you make sure the ink is dried between layers.  Once this was done, I filled in the 'flowing' look with the smaller images.  It looked a little like it was missing something, so I used the small little circles from the Altenew Floral Frames stamp set to give a finished look.  These little images are great fillers for when you need a little something and don't have any Nuvo drops left! I used the darker green ink for these little images.  Now onto the sentiment.  I planned space for the sentiment when I figured out the design and used the Altenew Painted Greetings stamp set for the 'Thank You' and the 'for your hospitality' was the Altenew Succulents stamp set.  I used a rectangle die to give it a finished look and adhered this to a yellow card base.  Thank you for reading (-:

  1. Hello Mary, Your card with Painted flowers is BEAUTIFUL! I love the orange for the 2nd layer! Your use of stamps and elements are spot on! I also love your stamping of the smallest circles for added interest! Thanks so much for entering your beautiful work in Altenew AECP assignment Gallery. Beautiful colors and design. Well done on your very first AECP entry! I look forward to seeing more! :)
