Candy Hearts Valentines

Welcome to the blog today!  I'm entering a super simple two-fer today.  I made a couple of Valentine cards for my Olivia and Danny- two of my grandkids, and I'm entering these into the Simon Says Wednesday Challenge.  To create these A2 sized cards, I began by die-cutting a generic heart die and used the negative as a stencil.  I arranged them across a watercolor paper panel and erased the overlapping lines.  I pulled out some watercolors and chose four different colors to paint them.  Once dry, I stamped the Mama Elephant 'Lots Of Letters' alphabet stamps in Distress Oxide Picked Raspberries.  I googled the words to use for the candy hearts and it was very easy peasy - a fun one to make.  To finish it off I splattered all the different colors I used and mounted it to some Neenah Desert Kraft cardstock.  Thanks for reading this!

Love Is In The Air

Welcome here to my blog today!  I'm submitting a card fort my sweetie to the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge!  It's a stamp set called 'In The Air' by Art Impressions.  I initially saw Sandy Allnock color this and I had to laugh.  I stamped the image on Bristol cardstock with Versafine Black Onyx Ink and then colored it with Zig Clean Color Markers using various shades of black and gray.  I splattered with some black ink, die cut some little hearts in the same red cardstock that I mounted this panel to.  Also I die cut the panel from a stitched rectangle die from My Favorite Things.  Thanks for reading this!

Altenew January 2019 Inspiration Challenge

Hello to you and welcome to my blog.  Today I'm sharing one of those on-the-fly inspirations that you get while you're on your way to do something else. This one's for the Altenew January 2019 Inspiration Challenge. I just received my new order of the Altenew Inked Flora stamp set and really, really wanted to use it so I stamped it in the center of some Bristol cardstock.  I got the idea to look through my stash for some other Altenew sets that had a similar sketchy look and found the Altenew You Are... stamp set.  It had a great look to it!  I placed leafy looking image around the flower and stamped it in the four positions you see below.  Next, I pulled out my Distress Oxide inks and matched up the colors closely to the inspiration requirements.  I used Lucky Clover, Carved Pumpkin, and Candied Apples (mixed with the Carved Pumpkin, it created a cool deeper orange that matched correctly).  I watercolored with these inks and was pretty happy with the results but needed a little something more.  I found these wonderful little circles from Altenew Framed Florals, and stamped them in various spots around the image.  Lastly was this impulse to go ahead and do partial die cuts with the leaves on their outer edges on all four sided.  I pulled them up a bit and curled them so the cardstock would show up nicely.  I mounted this to a matching green cardstock and cut it a bit smaller so it would show up on top of this green cardbase and Voila!

Thank you for hanging with me and reading all of this.  I would love to do a video on this, but I don't yet have the courage to for that...ugh...kudos to those of you that do, though because that's the only way I can learn this stuff!
